KFA Announces 2021 Staff Promotions

SAN ANTONIO/HOUSTON (July 26, 2021) – Mike Persyn, PE, has been promoted to Vice President and has become a Shareholder in K Friese + Associates (KFA). Mike will continue to serve as our KFA Water Business Practice Lead (BPL), leading KFA’s rapid growth in Water and Wastewater consulting throughout our service regions. In addition, he has established himself as a firm leader and, in his new role, will participate in higher level strategic planning efforts. “I am excited to welcome Mike as our newest Shareholder and Vice President,” commented KFA President Karen Friese, PE. “Mike has been instrumental in our growth over the past six years. I look forward to working with him as a partner to continue KFA’s success for many years to come.”

Mike has more than 20 years of experience managing projects, developing teams, and leading business development pursuits. He joined KFA in 2016, establishing our first significant geographic reach with a San Antonio office. Mike was named an Associate in 2018 and took on the role of KFA Water BPL in 2019.

“I am honored to transition into this new leadership role,” said Mike. “I’m excited to continue leading the Water Business Practice and maintaining our strong technical reputation while growing our client base. In my expanded role, I look forward to contributing to the overall growth and success of the firm.”

Trent Slovak, PE, BCEE has also been promoted to Vice President of KFA. Trent will continue in his role as our Director of Engineering, Southeast Texas, leading KFA’s expansion into the Houston market. As a Vice President, Trent is being recognized for his significant contributions to our firm as well as his leadership in developing a new service area for KFA. “I am pleased to recognize Trent as a KFA Vice President,” said Karen Friese. “Trent and I worked together many years ago, so I was familiar with his skillset, his approach to problem solving, and his focus on client service. He aligns perfectly with our values, and I am confident we will build a solid presence in Southeast Texas under his leadership.”

Trent joined KFA in 2020 with more than 35 years of experience in engineering consulting.
