AUSTIN (2022) – K Friese + Associates (KFA) welcomes Ryan S. Thomas, PE, VMA, CSPF, as our Transportation Practice Leader. Ryan joins us as an experienced leader in the transportation sector, having most recently served as a Regional Transportation Sector Leader covering a five-state area, including Texas. He has been responsible for leading professional teams in strategy development and successful project delivery for the majority of his career. At KFA, Ryan will lead our talented professionals as we continue to expand our Transportation Practice throughout Texas. “We feel extremely fortunate to have Ryan join our KFA team,” shares KFA President and Founder Karen Friese, PE. “We are confident that his technical expertise, commitment to client service, and leadership style will accelerate the development of services we are able to provide our clients and, in turn, the opportunities we are able to provide our staff.”
Ryan brings nearly 27 years of experience managing major infrastructure projects and programs, including over 20 years in the municipal sector where he began his professional career as City Engineer, Director of Public Works, and City Administrator in the St. Louis area. In addition to being a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states, Ryan is also a Value Methodology Associate (VMA) and a Certified Structured Professional Facilitator (CSPF) – a background that makes him a valued adviser to clients facing complex decisions related to alternatives analysis or consensus building. Ryan currently serves as a Regional Director for the Central Texas Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and as Region Manager for the South Central Region of SAVE International, which advances Value Methodology practices among private industry and government agencies.
Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in urban planning and transportation from Washington University in St. Louis.
