Karen A. Friese, P.E. was elected the 2013-2014 Chairwoman of the Board of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Texas. Karen will serve as the second woman elected chairperson in the history of the organization and the first woman chairperson in more than 20 years. Having served on the Board of Directors since 2007, Karen has an extensive history of service in the organization, most recently having held the positions of Treasurer followed by Chair-Elect at the State level and President of the Central Texas Chapter. Karen looks forward to working with her colleagues and the incredibly talented ACEC Texas staff to further advance the practice of consulting engineering in Texas. “My goal will be to ensure that our members continue to be actively engaged and informed on the issues that matter to us most, including appropriate statewide infrastructure funding and public sector project delivery methods.”
With more than 400 active member firms today, ACEC Texas was established in 1968 and is the only statewide organization committed to the business of consulting engineering. ACEC Texas’ devotion to advancing the practice of consulting engineering extends to the promotion of private enterprise, protection of public welfare, and to the improvement of economic status for professional engineers engaged in consulting engineering. The organization is a forum for interchange of thought and experience amongst consulting engineers to gain mutual understanding and improvement for engineering, business practices, and professional procedures.
