City of Bastrop Long-Term Water Supply Study

Bastrop, TX
Planning Study
Quick Facts
  • More than 35,000 acres in study area
  • Projected water supply deficit of more than 30 MGD in 2040
  • Refinement of Bastrop Regional Water Supply Facility Plan, which was partially funded by a grant from the Texas Water Development Board

Presently, Bastrop depends on alluvial wells for its water supply needs.  The city would like to diversify the water supply sources used to meet the future deficit and has retained KFA to develop a 30-year facilities plan for several options.  Possible supplies include surface water from the Colorado River, surface water from Lake Bastrop, and Simsboro groundwater.  One supply option is aquifer storage and recovery where treated surface would be injected into a Simsboro well during low-demand periods and withdrawn during high-demand periods.
